Beaches are the best escape for anyone. One simply has to feel the soft sand between their toes to experience an instant way to relax. Relaxing on the beach is like a celebration for a beach lover. Just a casual stroll by the shore, dip in the ocean or catching the beautiful sunset brings immense joy. Isn’t it?

 Beaches are God’s best creation of nature, where Sun, Sand, and Sea come together to celebrate their love. Beaches on the west coast are considered to be the best and most beautiful in India. These exotic and gorgeous beaches are also popular honeymoon destinations.  They are frequented by adventure and water sports enthusiasts.

1. Benaulim Beach, Goa

Benaulim is one of Goa’s best beaches. You can simply laze in the sun and enjoy the cool breeze here. The day-time charm has to be experienced. It’s extremely delightful and fulfilling of being in Goa. Due to the white sands and clear blue waters, this beach is quite popular with tourists. Enjoy taking long walks or water sports offered by locals, or a dip in the ocean will soak your stress away. The shacks around the beach offer great local cuisines and drinks.

2. Kovalam Beach, Kerala

Kovalam beach is the most well-known beach in the state of Kerala. It is noted for its scenic beauty, serenity and clear waters. This beach is very popular with locals and tourists too. Experience the sun shimmering on the sea which makes it dazzle like a precious gem. And the play of colors – blue sea, yellow sands, and green palms that dot the periphery of this coastal beach is truly magical.  

3. Ganpatipule Beach, Maharashtra

Ganpatipule has one of the most breathtaking seashores along the Konkan Coast in Maharashtra. It is a perfect escape that attracts the harmony of searchers who want to get away from the hustle-bustle of city life. The Ganpatipule Beach is spotless and the ocean is likewise clear. One can experience beautiful climbs and lush greenery overlooking the beach. It is a perfect spot for sunbathing and quiet sunsets. The temple on the Ganpatipule beach is another added attraction that draws pilgrims every year.

4. Dhanushkodi Beach, Tamil Nadu

Considered to be the best beach of Tamil Nadu, Dhanushkodi is a serene and a less crowded beach. It is situated on Pamban Island while forming the only land border between India and Sri Lanka. That is why you won’t find many beach enthusiasts here. Experience this peaceful beach stretch in all its private glory. Swimming is, however, not encouraged as the currents prove dangerous throughout the year.

5. Agatti Island Beach, Lakshadweep

Agatti is a perfect beach holiday one can dream with the family. It is an isolated stretch of beach that makes it more desirable for the perfect peaceful getaway. You can end up spending the entire day just lazing under the palm trees with a book while the kids make sandcastles. Agatti beach is also famous for beautiful corals and sea turtles. It is quite an action-packed beach too, with sailing, scuba diving, water sports, and angling.

6. Elephanta Beach, Havelock Island- Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Elephanta beach is well known for its snorkeling activities.  With white powdery sand and bright blue water, this beach will just charm you because if it’s an exotic tropical setting. If you wish to strike out snorkeling from your bucket list or visit one of the best beaches in India, then head here to the Elephanta Beach.

7. Paradise Beach, Puducherry

If you are visiting Puducherry and yet have time after visiting colonial landmarks in this quaint town then Paradise Island beach is a must to visit.  Ideal to unwind on the virgin sands. This tranquil and private seashore sits at the tip of a landmass where the Bay of Bengal and Chunnambar River unite. Formally called Chunnambar Beach, Paradise Beach was given its well-known name by the neighborhood inhabitants. A beach that is so blissful and serene, even a good camera would not be able to capture its visual beauty.

8. Chandipur, Odisha

Chandipur is top on the list on Lonely Planet – World’s most unusual beaches.  Chandipur is called the hide and seek beach for its disappearing act. Twice a day, due to low tide, the sea recedes for up to five kilometers! You can actually walk on the sea bed collecting shells and driftwood. Interestingly the common sight of horseshoe crabs or red crabs crawling beside you will be an experience of a lifetime.

There is something incredibly scenic and enchanting about some of these beaches in India. If we preserve and protect them, then we can attract more tourists to come and experience and treat themselves the beauty of our Indian beaches.
