My biggest achievement this year was a solo trip. And this Dubai trip review is about the fun experiences of my first ever solo trip.

I had always wanted to go on a solo trip but in my head it was always mountains and definitely not Dubai. So if you are wondering, how come I planned a solo trip to Dubai?

Actually, I did not. I had planned this trip with my best friend who recently passed away in an accident. Six months after the tragedy, I was going through our last text messages which was about our trip to Dubai.

I remembered how excited we were while planning the trip. I also remembered how she always used to push me out of my comfort zone and try new things. It was at that moment that I decided I will go to Dubai alone and do everything as discussed in the texts.

So, I contacted the same agent of Thrillophilia that we connected with months ago. I told her that I wanted to continue with my travel plans, only this time I would be going alone. She really planned out the best itinerary for me and included everything I asked for. After finalising the package, I booked the flight tickets and eagerly waited to start my solo trip.

My experience in Dubai

I want to start this Thrillophilia review of Dubai trip by saying that the locals of Dubai are extremely helpful and hospitable. A special thanks to Hamad, my assigned driver, who was more like a friend and a great company on the trip.

I booked the ‘Getaway to Dubai’ package for 5 days and 4 nights. This package included everything from accommodations, transportation, tours, activities and guide. My stay was top-notch with a beautiful room, comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and a beautiful view from the window.

Talking about what all I got to explore in Dubai then my most favourite was, of course, the iconic Burj Khalifa. I got to some of the best panoramic views of the city from this tower. I also visited other well-known places like Dubai Mall, Dubai Miracle Garden, Museum of the Future and Dubai Dolphinarium.

Activities in Dubai

Just like how I planned it with my best friend, I also went to IMG Worlds of Adventure and tried a lot of fun rides there. We had even discussed that we would go to Global Village and would try all the different cuisines. So, I did go to Global Village, however, it was a little too much for me to try food from over 80 countries.

I had read a lot of positive comments about Skydive Dubai in the Thrillophilia Dubai trip reviews, so I had to try it. I believe a freefall in the sky was exactly what I needed. It was extremely scary but the adrenaline rush that you get when you are floating in the sky is absolutely worth it. I also tried other activities like snorkelling, ATV riding and a helicopter tour.

And that was a summary of the amazing time I spent in Dubai. I really wish to thank Thrillophilia for making this extremely difficult step possible for me. Against all odds, I went to Dubai alone and no doubt, had the best time of my life. I am sure if I had planned everything on my own, I would have made a disaster. But I am glad, Thrillophilia was there to take care of everything for me.

Being a frequent traveller, I had high expectations when I decided to travel to Ladakh through Thrillophilia due to the large number of positive Thrillophilia reviews. Truth be told, they delivered far more than my expectations. 

I arrived at the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport and I was welcomed by a representative from Thrillophilia. They were so welcoming and ever since then, I felt that all the Thrillophilia reviews I came across were genuine and this trip was going to be one of the best ones. I travelled comfortably in a car and was put up in a hotel. Surprisingly, the hotel was also as per our requirements- clean, neat, and with an unforgettable view of the mountains. It was filled with state-of-the-art amenities and had some of the most hospitable and helpful staff I have ever come across. The first impression of the services eased my travel fatigue and I was looking forward to the trip.

On the second day, we headed to the Sham Valley, which is located on the Leh-Srinagar highway. We also visited the Martyrs memorial and paid homage to the bravehearts of the Indian armed forces who made the supreme sacrifice during the Indo-Pak war. I travelled to the SECMOL school- the school that inspired and featured in the Bollywood film “3 Idiots”. We stopped by the Spituk Gompa to get an insight into the Buddhist lifestyle and admired the variety of Buddhist weapons in the museum. My guide was brimming with knowledge and was patient enough to explain everything about the museum. The day concluded after checking out places like Magnetic Hill, Indus Sangam viewpoint, and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. 

The next day, I travelled to the Nubra Valley via the Khardung La Pass- the world’s highest all-season motorable road. After arriving at the Nubra Valley, I was out of words to witness one of the best landscapes ever. The pristine white sand and the camels adorning the landscape were picture-worthy. The day concluded at a camping site at Nubra Valley overnight. 

A visit to Ladakh is incomplete without heading to Pangong Lake. After checking out of the campsite, he headed there. The lake is known for its changing colours and was nestled beautifully near the Indo-China border. What surprised me even more was when my guide told me that I would be staying near the lake overnight. 

Next on the itinerary was the Chang-La Pass- the world’s highest mountainable pass. For an adrenaline junkie like me, the journey with a view lives rent-free in my mind. We checked out famous places like Changla Baba Temple and the Thiksey Monastery. The day concluded with a stay at a pre-booked hotel in Leh. 

The trip concluded with the Thrillophilia representative dropping me at the Leh Airport. Looking back, I felt mentally and physically rejuvenated after the trip. Considering the services and all that we visited, the entire trip was cost-effective and the Thrillophilia team’s unconditional support was the cherry on top. When it comes to surfing hotspots in the Canary Islands, all roads truly do lead to Lanzarote. Accompanying the island’s extensive list of stunning beaches are an abundance of world-class surf spots.

Typically, the more experienced surfer will visit in the winter months, when Lanzarote’s surrounding waters become slightly more treacherous with challenging waves. The summer months generally see calmer waters, which aren’t always ideal for surfing. With average temperatures remaining in the low 20s through December, Lanzarote is the perfect place to soak up some winter sun on your surfboard.

Whether you’re a professional surfer or complete novice, there is something for everyone in Lanzarote. Here we run through three of the best hotspots across the island, to give you a taste of what to expect from this surfer’s paradise.

Caleta de Famara

Front and centre of Lanzarote’s surfing scene is Caleta de Famara. It’s found on the northwestern coast, a region popular amongst the surfing community, well away from the more touristy areas in the south.

Whilst experienced surfers will still be drawn to Famara, the conditions here typically favour beginner and intermediate surfers. Whether you’re a complete novice or just looking to brush up on your skills, you will never be short of surf schools in the Famara area, so take up some tuition before taking on the waves!

After tackling the Atlantic waters, Caleta de Famara is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The beach is framed by the red rocks of Risco Mountain, and offers plenty of stunning walks to help you get your breath back. Even though Famara isn’t as commercialized as other areas on the island, there is still a good selection of bars and restaurants which will provide the perfect tonic after a long day on the water.

El Quemao

From Famara, our surfing tour of Lanzarote takes us just 15 minutes along the northwestern coast where we find El Quemao. Sat just across from the famous fishing village of La Santa, El Quemao has been known to offer some of the best, and most challenging, conditions for surfers anywhere on the island.

Whilst this world-renowned spot will generate favourable conditions all year round, the best time to sample the El Quemao waves is outside of the peak summer months. Between September and April, a fast and hollow left hand reef break provides a testing challenge for even the most experienced surfers on the planet.

If you’re not so confident about tackling the biggest barrels on the island, you can get great spectator views from La Santa. Pitch up with a seafood starter and let the surfing pros provide the entertainment.

Punta Mujeres

The final leg of our surfing safari takes us to Punta Mujeres on the island’s northeastern coast. Often overshadowed by its northwestern counterparts, Punta Mujeres remains one of Lanzarote’s best surf spots, particularly for a surfing newbie.

As is often the case with surfing in the Canaries, winter will be the best time to go, as you will typically find much flatter waves in the summer months. Be sure to take to the waves at high tide, as the waters can become shallow and quite dangerous to surf on otherwise. This particular area of the island is also known for its stretch of natural swimming pools, which are the perfect place to regain your cool after wiping out on the waves. The pools run along the coastline for 2km, and show very few signs of human interference, barring the steps installed to enter the water safely – you can truly find the best of both worlds here.
